Dr Louis Shidiak is an orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty interests in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty (anterior hips), Hip preservation and sports injuries including Hip Arthroscopy.
Dr Shidiak graduated medicine (MBBS) from the University of Sydney and spent his junior years at Liverpool hospital. His undergraduate degree was Physiotherapy (B. Appl Science) which he practiced for five years rehabilitating orthopaedic and sports injuries highlighted by work with soccer and athletes at the 2000 Olympics. He completed advanced orthopaedic training (FRACS-Orth) in Sydney and followed this with fellowships in Sydney (lower limb arthroplasty) and Switzerland (Hip preservation surgery). Dr Shidiak has numerous publications in well respected journals (including Clinical orthopaedics and related research CORR).
Dr Shidiak special interests are Hip surgery including arthroscopic (key-hole) surgery of the hip and minimally invasive anterior Hip replacements which he has had fellowship training in (this technique allows early recovery). He also treats young adults with hip pathology that is amenable to preservation. Such treatments include pelvic re-orientation, hip arthroscopy and safe surgical dislocation to address joint pathology and delay the onset of arthritis. Dr Shidiak is the Doctor to the Parramatta Eels rugby league club and Wentworthville rugby league club with whom he has been affiliated with for five years. He has an interest in sports injuries, particularly knee reconstructive surgery.
